Polop is surrounded by the mountains of Monte Ponoig, pine and holly oak trees and the ravines of Barranco de Salt and Barranco del Canet de Xirles. Places of interest in Polop include the fountains in Plaça els Xorris (there are 221 in total), the ruins of an Arab fortress, the church of San Pedro and the Santuario de la Divina Aurora sanctuary.
