The village of the old can be considered as the oldest village in the municipality of Aroche, of medieval origin and linked to the area of the mountains and in the proximity of the disputes of Aroche it was due to the repopulation of Castilian Leonese after the reconquest. The village of the old is located in a valley in the Sierra de Huelva in the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park.It is located about 7 km from Cortegana, with only 1 km of track and just 1.5 from villages such as La Corte de Cortegana or Las Cefiñas de Aroche.Just 500m from the small villages of Los Bravos and Los Andreses, which makes it very interesting to be able to make routes and trails through the environment; and on the other hand it is a virgin area and quite well preserved and in addition to allowing you to get lost and escape from civilization and at the same time have all the services of towns. At the level of natural heritage, it goes without saying that it is located in the heart of the Natural Park and therefore we can enjoy nature in its fullness. The farm consists of 18.5 registered hectares of land distributed in the following agricultural and forestry uses: • Holm oak 11.70 hectares • Cork oak forest 6.20 hectares • Irrigated Orchards 0.15 Has • Irrigated farming or farmland 0.28 Has It is a farm where holm oaks and cork oaks predominate, ideal for fattening Iberian pigs with the possibility of breeding about 36 acorn-fed Iberian pigs protected by the Jabugo Protected Designation of Origin.In turn, the farm is ideal for goats.If we add to this the areas of orchards and irrigation that allow agricultural activities to have support food and orchard products so typical in the mountain area. The old people's village is a group of very modest houses, some in an advanced state of deterioration and made up of three small blocks and a linear street onto which the houses open.There are about 8 houses, a block with a haystack, a landil, all with stone walls about 60cm thick and covered with Arabic tiles.Being the houses plastered and whitewashed and the buildings for agricultural use in exposed stone or rammed earth. In turn, on the farm there are other constructions such as warehouses for livestock use or a warehouse, specifically a warehouse with a nearby pool.
