What started out as our wish to provide him with a ‘home’ environment to fulfill his dreams, then became the home for our journey and adventure, long after he had left for the next chapter his life. We instantly become captivated by the urban lifestyle of a major European city, so full of culture and contrasts. We felt privileged to be accepted into a community full of soul and spirit, and we have built a life and interests around our proximity to La Boqueria, Barceloneta, the MACBA for example, as well as world class restaurants, and bars. When considering the apartment renovation, we reflected carefully on the fact that we would be hosting friends and visitors from all parts of the world, so comfortable and ample light-filled living spaces, and modern bathrooms were essential. Also, our love of cooking, and entertaining at home, with access to some of the world's best produce had to be catered for in the kitchen design. We also wanted to bring our love and appreciation of 'world class' design and quality in our selection of fixtures and fittings. For example, the Patricia Urquiola tiling throughout, and the Mooi bedroom chandelier. And, similarly with our curated furniture pieces like the 1950’s Fritz Hansen lounge, and Mies van der Rohe ‘Brno’ dining chairs. Huge white walls were specifically in our renovation plan to hang our art, which we have collected and enjoyed for many years, allowing our personality to flow through, and to add a pop of colour to a very neutral palette. We are so fortunate that we have interwoven many parts of the world into our lives, careers, and interests. Sadly though, this is now pulling us more and more away from the Barcelona we love so much. It is deeply heart-rending for us to say goodbye, but we know that Barcelona will remain a huge and significant part of our future. For now, we hope that our home becomes loved by someone new, who is perhaps starting on their own Barcelona journey...' Diane x Paul, Australia
